Friends, have we got a cover reveal for you today: Tash Hearts Tolstoy by Kathryn Ormsbee! Not only is the Tash Hearts Tolstoy cover absolutely adorable, but Tash Hearts Tolstoy stars an asexual girl, and this asexual blogger couldn’t be more delighted to be hosting the cover reveal. Take a peek at the cover – and learn more about the book – below!
After a shout-out from one of the Internet’s superstar vloggers, Natasha “Tash” Zelenka finds herself and her obscure, amateur web series, ‘Unhappy Families,’ thrust into the limelight: She’s gone viral. Her show is a modern adaptation of Anna Karenina, written by Tash’s literary love Count Lev Nikolayevich “Leo” Tolstoy. Tash is a fan of the forty thousand new subscribers, their gushing tweets, and flashy Tumblr GIFs. Not so much the pressure to deliver the best web series ever.
When ‘Unhappy Families’ is nominated for a Golden Tuba award, Tash’s cyber-flirtation with Thom Causer, a fellow award nominee, suddenly has the potential to become something IRL—if she can figure out how to tell said crush that she’s romantic asexual. Tash wants to enjoy her newfound fame, but will she lose her friends in her rise to the top? What would Tolstoy do?
“Does that cover catch your eye, or what? Ha! I love the direction designer Lucy Ruth Cummins took with this: A fun and irreverent graffiti over Tash’s literary love,” said Ormsbee. “In the book, Tash keeps a poster of Tolstoy hung in her bedroom. That poster is of a younger, more dapper Leo, but I think the old, gruff version looks perfect juxtaposed with the hand drawn additions. And the swirly font and bright tones? They do a great job of capturing all the creative energy packed into Tash’s personality.”
Tash Hearts Tolstoy releases from Simon & Schuster in June 2017.
