nothing janne tellerJanne Teller’s Nothing will become a stage opera, entitled “Nothing, The Opera,” according to The Bookseller.

Originally published in Denmark under the title Intent, Nothing begins with Pierre-Anthon realizing that there is no meaning to life, and so he climbs a tree and refuses to come down. His classmates, unsuccessful in their attempts to bring him down, begin to build a pile of important things – shoes, fishing rods – but as the sacrifices become more extreme, and more personal, the students become desperate.

The opera is directed by Bijan Sheibani, with music composed by David Bruce. The story will be performed by members of the Glyndebourne Youth Opera.

“Nothing, The Opera” will take place February 25 – 27. Tickets are available.
