A few months ago, Stephenie Meyer announced the Twilight Storytellers competition. Filmmakers could propose short films based on the characters in her Twilight saga, and a handful of them would be sponsored, by Meyer, to be made. The finalists would have their films shared and voted on by Twilight fans.
And the coolest part? All the filmmakers had to be ladies.
The finalists in the Twilight Storytellers competition were announced earlier this week, and each of the videos have been made public exclusively on Facebook.
“Turncoats,” directed by Lindsey Hancock Williamson, looks at the friendship between Garrett and vampire Carlisle Cullen.
“Consumed” focuses on the past of Jane, one of the Volturi, and is direced by Maja Fernqvist.
“We’ve Met Before” is the first meeting between Alice and Jasper Cullen and is directed by Yulin Kuang.
“Masque” is about Esme’s struggle to contain her bloodlust and her relationship with Carlisle Cullen. It was directed by Cate Carson.
“Sunrise” follows Benjamin’s return to his human home and is directed by Amanda Tasse.
The finalists will be voted on by fans, and a group of panelists – including Meyer, “Twilight” actress Kristen Stewart, actress Kate Winslet and Octavia Spencer, and more – will narrow down their own selections. The winner will be announced on August 3rd and will receive a cash prize, among other opportunities.
The Twilight saga follows a girl named Bella, who falls in love with an immortal vampire named Edward, and ends up unbalancing the careful balance of politics within the world of paranormal creatures. Fans can vote on the videos on Tongal.
