Death is never the end of a story, especially in Caitlin Seal’s debut novel Twice Dead. The first in the Necromancer’s Song series releases later this year—and we have the exclusive cover reveal!

Two hands - one pale, one darker-skinned, stretch towards each other againt a ghosty, Victorian-esque sky. Behind the silhouette of a woman reads HER DEATH IS ONLY THE BEGINNING.

Naya, the daughter of a sea merchant captain, nervously undertakes her first solo trading mission in the necromancer-friendly country bordering her homeland of Talmir. Unfortunately, she never even makes it to the meeting. She’s struck down in the streets of Ceramor. Murdered. But death is not the end for Naya. She awakens to realize she’s become an abominationa wraith, a ghostly creature bound by runes to the bones of her former corpse. She’s been resurrected in order to become a spy for her country. Reluctantly, she assumes the face and persona of a servant girl named Blue. She never intended to become embroiled in political plots, kidnapping, and murder. Or to fall in love with the young man and former necromancer she is destined to betray.

“Growing up, I was always fascinated by ghost stories. I loved the idea that some thingsrevenge, or love, or just the raw will to livemight be stronger than death. When I saw the cover for Twice Dead I was thrilled with the dark color palette and the tension of the two hands reaching for each other. I think it’s a great fit for the story and the challenges Naya faces.”

Twice Dead releases from CharlesbridgeTEEN on September 18.
