Best-selling young adult author and Youtuber John Green (The Fault in Our Stars) has been named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2014.  Actress Shailene Woodley, who stars as Green’s protagonist in the upcoming film adaptation of The Fault in Our Stars wrote a piece on Green’s success for the magazine.  Woodley commended Green for his ability to connect with teenagers and treat his readers with compassion and understanding.

“Some say that through his books, John gives a voice to teenagers. I humbly disagree. I think John hears the voices of teenagers. He acknowledges the intelligence and vulnerability that stem from those beautiful years when we are, for the first time, discovering the world and ourselves outside of our familial stories,” wrote Woodley in Time Magazine.

Green has written several successful contemporary realistic novels for young adults, including The Fault in Our Stars, Looking For Alaska, and Paper Towns.  To view the complete list of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People, visit Time.com.
