Shadowhunters adds Matthew Daddario, Isaisah Mustafa to cast

ABC Family’s Shadowhunters, a new TV adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments series, has added Matthew Daddario and Isaiah Mustafa to its cast.

In the Mortal Instruments series, Clary Fray’s mother is kidnapped, forcing her to join forces with a league of demon-fighters known as the Shadowhunters.

Daddario will play Alec Lightwood, Isabelle Lightwood’s brother with an unrequited love for Jace Wayland.

Mustafa will play Luke Garroway, a detective investigating paranormal murders and a fatherly figure to Clary Fray. He also happens to be the leader of a werewolf pack.

Other casting includes Katherine McNamara as Clary Fray, Emereaude Toubia as Isabelle Lightwood, Dominic Sherwood as Jace Wayland and ALberto Rosende as Simon Lewis.

The diverse cast assembled has been a joy for many, including author Cassandra Clare, who has spoken against the racist remarks of fans who don’t agree with the casting.
