A Series of Unfortunate Events is written by Daniel Handler under the Lemony Snicket pseudonym. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire try to find out the truth of their parents’ deaths while their villainous uncle Count Olaf tries to take their fortune. The entire series is available in print now.

Sonnenfeld is the director of the Addams Family films and the Men in Black films. Mark Hudis of ‘True Blood’ will come on board as executive producer and showrunner.

A trailer for the series that Netflix claims is fan-made caused a sensation when it hit the web earlier this year. The trailer has continued to appear in various articles with official news about the show, including Empire’s initial posting on Sonnefeld’s director position. Many fans claim the trailer is real and that it plays into the mystery and puzzling nature of the series.
