Tahereh Mafi, author of the bestselling Shatter Me series, announced earlier this week via Twitter that a second Shatter Me novella will be available for purchase in December. The novella will take place between the second and (as yet unpublished) third books of the series and will be narrated by one of the series protagonist Juliette’s love interests, fan-favourite Adam Kent.
Mafi’s Shatter Me series is a dystopian fantasy, following the emotional journey of one troubled teenager with the power to overthrow her enemies and lead a resistance against the tyrannical Reestablishment. Mafi’s first in-series novella, Destroy Me, was set between books one and two, and delved into the mind of psychopathic-yet-sexy Aaron Warner, a villain-slash-love interest whose surprisingly sympathetic internal dialogue caused several fans to switch sides to Team Warner. Novella number two may hold tantalising hints of the outcome of the series, and this glimpse into the mind of a character with seemingly nothing to hide could prove to be just as surprising.
The novella, due to be released on December 17th, marks the beginning of the end for Shatter Me fans, as Ignite Me, the third and final book in Tahereh Mafi’s series, will be released just two months afterwards on February 4th 2014.
