Scholastic to release Daniel José Older’s SHADOWSHAPER

The rights to Shadowshaper, a new fantasy novel from debut young adult author Daniel José Older have been bought by Scholastic’s Arthur A. Levine Books.  In Shadowshaper, Afro-Caribbean mythology is combined with Brooklyn street life, as 15-year-old painter Sierra Santiago discovers a mystical world in her neighborhood of Bed-Stuy. Sierra must claims her familial legacy as a shadowshaper, and battles an evil anthropologist for the supernatural heart of Brooklyn.

Shadowshaper is slated for publication in summer 2015.
