razorhurst justine larbalestierAustralian young adult author Justine Larbalestier (Liar) has announced her new novel, Razorhurst, a historical ghost story.

Set in the notoriously dangerous inner-city suburb of Darlinghurst in 1932, Razorhurst tells the story of Dymphna and Kelpie, two girls who meet over the corpse of Jimmy Palmer, Dymphna’s latest boyfriend.  Dymphna pronounces herself Kelpie’s new protector, but Dymphna’s life is in danger too, and she needs an ally. And while Jimmy’s ghost wants to help, the dead cannot protect the living.

Razorhurst is due to be published in Australia and New Zealand by Allen & Unwin in July 2014; and in the USA by Soho Teen in March 2015.
