J.K. Rowling to co-produce Harry Potter stage play

A stage play based on the best-selling Harry Potter series and co-produced by J.K. Rowling herself is set to be released in London’s West End by 2015.  Little is known about the project so far, but the play is said to be a prequel to Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, focusing on “the previously untold story of Harry Potter’s early years as an orphan and outcast”.

Producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender will be working alongside Rowling to bring Harry Potter’s early years to the West End.  Warner Brothers, the studio behind the Harry Potter films, are also said to be involved in the production.
