Indies Introduce announces summer / fall 2015 picks

The American Bookseller’s Association announced the picks for its sixth annual Indies Introduce. Ten debut children’s titles are chosen by a panel of booksellers to feature at indie bookstores across the country.

The young adult picks on the children’s list include Trouble Is A Friend of Mine by Stephanie Tromly, The Accident Season by Moïra Fowley-Doyle, Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon and Fans of the Impossible Life by Kate Scelsa.

In Trouble is a Friend of Mine, Zoe Webster is forced to move to upstate New York, but when she meets Philip Digby, returning to Brooklyn might not be the plan after all. After all, how can Brooklyn compare to vandalizing office complexes, throwing down with a religious cult and saving her new town?

The Accident Season follows Cara’s family, who becomes increasingly accident-prone near the end of October. With the death of many relatives foreshadowing what will come, they banish anything that could harm them – but nobody knows why they were cursed, or how they can break free.

Everything, Everything is about Madeline Whittier, who is allergic to the world. When Olly moves in next door, Madeline knows she’ll fall in love with him and that it will end in disaster.

Fans of the Impossible Life follows Mira and Sebby, two best friends; and Jeremy, a boy drawn into their secretive and near-magical world.
