Indies Choice Awards names Rainbow Rowell winner


eleanor and park rainbow rowellThe American Booksellers Association have announced the winners of the 2014 Indies Choice Awards.  The Indies Choice Awards are an annual honouring the best of the year’s new literature, as chosen by independent booksellers across America.  This year’s winner for Young Adult Book of the Year is Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell.

Set over the course of one school year in 1986, Eleanor & Park is the story of two troubled misfits, badly bullied Eleanor and self-conscious Park, who find comfort in their shared love of music and comics, and in each other.

Five Honour Award recipients were also announced for each category.  The 2014 Young Adult Honour Award winners are as follows:

  • Dark Triumph by Robin LaFevers
  • The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater
  • More Than This by Patrick Ness
  • Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein
  • The Summer Prince by Alaya Dawn Johnson
