Holly Black to pen new Doctor Who adventure


the darkest part of the forest holly black ukBestselling children’s and young adult author Holly Black (The Curse Workers) will write the 12th short story in Puffin’s Doctor Who 50th anniversary e-shorts collection.

The collection features 12 short stories written for young fans of the television series, each commemorating one of the 12 Doctor’s eras.  Several established children’s and young adult authors are involved in the project, including Patrick Ness (Chaos Walking), Richelle Mead (Vampire Academy) and Neil Gaiman (Coraline).  Black’s contribution is called Lights Out, and will feature the 12th Doctor, who will be played in the television series by Peter Capaldi later this year.

“I am super crazy excited to be writing a Doctor Who eshort for 11 Doctors 11 Stories, featuring the 12th Doctor! Was given fascinating research materials,” Black teased on her Tumblr.

Lights Out will be available as an e-book and as part of the anthology 12 Doctors, 12 Stories on October 23rd 2014. For more on Black, visit her website.
