Shadowhunters, get your dance pants on – ABC Family’s Shadowhunters cast Harry Shum Jr. as Magnus Bane.

Magnus Bane is the hundreds-of-years-old high warlock of Brooklyn. Shum previously starred in Fox’s ‘Glee’ as dancing Mike Chang.
Shadowhunters is the new TV adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal Instruments series. Clary Fray is thrust into the world of the Shadowhunters when her mother is kidnapped. The show’s increasingly diverse cast has been applauded by fans of the series and author Cassandra Clare, who has spent time calling out fans who have a problem with the diverse casting.
The first book of the series, City of Bones, was adapted into a movie called The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones in 2013. The show will begin at the start of the first book, as if the movie never happened. Whether or not they will incorporate Cassandra Clare’s The Infernal Devices series and The Bane Chronicles – both written by Clare, both taking place in the some overarching Shadowhunter world – is not yet known.
Valentine, an evil Shadowhunter and the villain of the Mortal Instruments series, was cast early today as Alan van Sprang. Sprang has been billed as as a recurring guest star rather than a full cast member. Other casting includes Katherine McNamara as Clary Fray, Emereaude Toubia as Isabelle Lightwood, Dominic Sherwood as Jace Wayland, Alberto Rosende as Simon Lewis, Matthew Daddario as Alec Lightwood and Isaiah Mustafa as Luke Garroway.
