Harry Potter play to open in 2016

On the eighteenth anniversary of the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, J.K. Rowling announced a huge gift for Potter fans. Rowling confirmed that the play ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child‘ will open in London in 2016. The drama is an “untold part of Harry’s story” and is the result of collaboration with playwright Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany.

Although the play is not a prequel to Harry’s story, not much is known about the rest of the work. Rowling and Thorne have been tight-lipped about the premise of the play, hinting only that it will be a real treat for fans.

The show will open at Palace Theatre. Other members of the production team include Steven Hoggett and Christie Jones.

Tickets will go on sale in the fall.
