Fox chooses director for STEELHEART film

steelheart film brandon sandersonFox snagged the rights to Brandon Sanderson’s Reckoners series in January and seem to be moving ahead on developing the film into a potential franchise. According to Deadline, Shawn Levy of 21 Laps is producing the series – and now Fox has tapped Carter Blanchard to direct the Steelheart film.

Steelheart is the first of the Reckoners series and takes place ten years after the Calamity – a burst in the sky that gifted ordinary people supernatural powers. Now called Epics, they rule over humanity, and the Reckoners fight them off. David wants to join the Reckoners to fight Steelheart, the Epic who killed his father.

Blanchard is known for his work on the sequel to “Independence Day.”

There is no word yet on who is writing the script.
