Jon Voight, Gemma Chan, Carmen Ejogo join ‘Fantastic Beasts’ cast

Jon Voight, Gemma Chan and Carmen Ejogo are joining the cast of the Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them movie adaptation, according to EW. No information on their roles is available yet.

Jon Voight is known for his role on Showtime’s “Ray Donovan.” Cermen Ejogo played Corette Scott King in the recent movie “Selma.” Gemma Chan stars in AMC’s “Humans.”

Ejogo and Chan are the first people of color to be cast in the movie, which has come under fire from some Potter fans for its lack of inclusive casting.

Newt Scamander, who was initially described as “swarthy” by Rowling, will be played by Eddie Redmayne.

The movie will take place 70 years before the Harry Potter books and films begin, with Scamander traveling the world to document the magical creatures he meets.

The Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them movie adaptation is scheduled to release in theaters on November 18 of next year. This will be the first in “at least” a trilogy of films, all penned by J.K. Rowling herself. They will be directed by David Yates and produced by David Heyman.
