International parent company Egmont Publishing placed Egmont USA for sale last October. But with no buyers interested in Egmont USA, Egmont Publishing decided to shut the company down, as it didn’t fit in with their business plans.
According to Publisher’s Lunch, Egmont USA’s spring 2015 catalog will still be published. However, books like Gretchen McNeil’s YA horror Relic, originally contracted to be published with Egmont, will be forced to find new homes.
Authors, editors, bloggers and others in the industry took to Twitter to offer their support to the Egmont team.
Very sad to hear about Egmont! I feel so lucky to have worked with the wonderful people there & have loved so many of their wonderful books!
