DIVERGENT wins California Young Readers Medal

The winners of the 2013 – 2014 California Young Readers Medals have been announced, and the medal for best young adult fiction has been awarded to Divergent by Veronica Roth.  The California Young Readers Medal is an annual award nominated and voted for by young people of the state of California, which aims to encourage a love of reading and promote the best of children’s and young adult literature.

In Veronica Roth’s bestselling debut novel Divergent society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue. Sixteen-year-old Tris must decide between staying with her family and being who she really is.

Veronica Roth will be awarded the CYRM medal at a special ceremony within the state.
