the darkest minds alexandra brackenExcited for the movie adaptation of Alexandra Bracken’s The Darkest Minds? The Darkest Minds movie landed a director: Jennifer Yuh Nelson!

The Darkest Minds trilogy is an dystopian YA series set after a pandemic wipes out the majority of America’s children. Ruby survives the disease, but at a cost: she and the other survivors developed telekinetic powers that they could not understand or control. After escaping from a government “rehabilitation camp,” she teams up with other teenagers who have escaped from their own camps.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Yuh Nelson will make her live action debut as the director for this film. Nelson is best known for directing the hit “Kung Fu Panda” series starring Jack Black. She has also worked on “Spawn” and “The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest.”

Joining her team as a writer will be Chad Hodge, producer of “Wayward Pines” and “The Playboy Club.” Shawn Levy of 21 Laps and Fox will produce the film.

“Chad is wonderful and The Darkest Minds is in fantastic hands,” said Bracken on Tumblr when the movie adaptation was first announced.

The Darkest Minds is available now. For more on Alexandra Bracken, visit her website or follow her on Twitter.
