Chris Colfer to headline YALLWEST

New York Times bestselling author and Golden Globe-winning actor Chris Colfer will headline this year’s YALLWEST festival, which returns with more than 100 authors for its third year this April.

Colfer will be in conversation with New York Times bestselling author and YALLWEST co-director Melissa de la Cruz. It’s a $5 ticketed event for space, and tickets will be available for purchase in advance. Colfer and de la Cruz will be discussing his new book, Stranger Than Fanfiction, along with de la Cruz’s recent YA book, Alex and Eliza.

In Stranger than Fanfiction, Cash Carter is the young, world famous lead actor of the hit television Wiz Kids. When four fans jokingly invite him on a cross-country road trip, they are shocked that he actually takes them up on it.

As battle cries of the American Revolution echo in the distance, servants flutter about preparing for the Schuylers’ grand ball in Alex and Eliza. Eliza can barely contain her excitement when she hears of the arrival of one Alexander Hamilton, a mysterious, rakish young colonel and General George Washington’s right-hand man.

Additional YALLWEST keynotes include bestselling authors Cassandra Clare, Daniel Jose Older, Rachel Renee Russell, Shannon Hale, James Dashner, Brendan Reichs, Danielle Paige, Victoria Aveyard, and Alexandra Bracken.

YALLWest takes place at Santa Monica High School on Saturday, April 29. YALLWEST and its sister festival YALLFEST are the biggest teen and middle grade book festivals in the country. Last year YALLWEST drew over 20,000 attendees and donated thousands of dollars in book sale proceeds to school libraries in the Santa Monica Malibu School District, as well as hundreds of books to students in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

YALLWEST is largely free and open to the public.
