Canadian Library Association announces shortlist for 2014 Young Adult Book Award


The Canadian Library Association announced the shortlist for its 2014 Young Adult Book Award. The award, which is sponsored by Library Services Centre, will recognize the author of an outstanding English-language Canadian YA novel, graphic novel, of collection of short stories published in 2013.

The shortlist for the award is as follows:

  • The Silent Summer of Kyle McGinley by Jan Andrews
  • Graffiti Knight by Karen Bass
  • The Gypsy King by Maureen Fergus
  • Little Red Lies by Julie Johnston
  • Nix Minus One by Jill MacLean
  • The Oathbreaker’s Shadow by Amy McCulloch
  • Not Your Ordinary Wolf Girl by Emily Pohl-Weary
  • Audacious by Gabrielle Prendergast
  • The Color of Silence by Liane Shaw
  • The Unlikely Hero of Room 13B by Teresa Toten

The winner of the award will be announced the week of April 14th, and the award will be given to the author at the Canadian Library Association 2014 National Conference and Trade Show in Victoria, BC on May 29.
