Audio Publishers Association announces 2017 Audie Awards finalists

The Audio Publishers Association has announced their 2017 Audie Awards finalists. The 22nd annual Audie Awards recognises distinction in audiobooks and spoken word entertainment. Six young adult novels made the list: The Game of Love and Death by Martha Brockenbrough; Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff; My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows; Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys, Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco; and Winter by Marissa Meyer.

Set in Seattle in 1937, The Game of Love and Death follows two seventeen-year-olds: Henry, who is white; and Flora, who is African-American. They become the unwitting pawns in a game played by two immortal figures, Love and Death, where they must choose each other at the end, or one of them will die.  The audiobook is narrated by Susan Hanfield.

The sequel to Illuminae, Gemina continues aboard the Jump Station Heimdallwhere two new characters will confront the next wave of the BeiTech assault. Gemina‘s audiobook is narrated by Carla Corvo, Steve West and various.

My Lady Jane is a quirky historical fantasy about sixteen year old Lady Jane Grey, who is to be the next Queen of England. Featuring a reluctant king, an even more reluctant queen, a noble steed, and only passing resemblance to actual history, My Lady Jane is narrated by Katherine Kellgren.

Set to the background of World War II, Salt to the Sea is a powerful narrative of desperation for survival and what it means to be a refugee. Based on the true story of the tragic sinking of the Wilhelm Gustloff – the greatest mritime disaster in history. The audiobook for Salt to the Sea is narrated by Jorjeana Marie, Will Damron, Cassandra Morris and Michael Crouch.

Presented by James Patterson’s new children’s imprint, Stalking Jack the Ripper follows intrepid Audrey Rose Wadsworth, who lives a secret life hidden beneath the life of a lord’s daughter. Eventually, Audrey’s extracurricular activities lead her to investigating a serial murderer that stalk close to her sheltered world of comfort. Stalking Jack the Ripper is narrated by Nicola Barber.

The conclusion to Meyer’s popular Lunar Chronicles series, Winter is a twist on the classic Snow White tale. Meyer weaves characters from previous books in the series, creating a new take on a well-known story. The audiobook for Winter is narrated by Rebecca Soler.

The 2017 Audie Awards winners will be revealed at a gala on June 1 at the French Institute Alliance Française in New York.
