fantastic beasts and where to find them newt scamander jk rowlingAlison Sudol will join the cast of the film adaptation of Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them as Queenie.

Sudol is best known for her singing and for her roles in the TV shows ‘Dig’ and ‘Transparent.’ Queenie is the sister of Tina, who will be played by Katherine Waterston. Eddie Redmayne will play Newt Scamander.

The movie’s title is a reference to the book Scamander pens within the canon of Harry Potter. A real life version of the book, penned by Rowling, was released as a companion novel to the series in 2001. The movie will take place 70 years before the Harry Potter books and films begin, with Scamander traveling the world to document the magical creatures he meets.

The Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them movie adaptation is scheduled to release in theaters on November 18 of next year. This will be the first in “at least” a trilogy of films, all penned by J.K. Rowling herself. They will be directed by David Yates and produced by David Heyman.

  1. I honestly was really, really hoping that Newt would be played by a man of color because Rolf was described as “swarthy” but of course Hollywood cannot fathom making a movie not starring a white man. I feel like this film is going to be such a flop, but I’ll go see it anyway.
