2016 Eisner Awards announce nominees

Presented at San Diego Comic Con, the Eisner Awards – named after graphic novelist Will Eisner – honor the best and brightest in this year’s comics. The 2016 Eisner Awards nominees have been announced, including multiple YA stories.

The nominees for best publication for teens are Awkward by Svetlana Chmakova, Drowned City: Hurricane Katrina and New Orleans by Don Brown, March: Book Two by John Lewis, Moose by Max de Radiguès, Oyster War by Ben Towle and SuperMutant Magic Academy by Jillian Tamaki.

 

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, written by Ryan North and illustrated by Erica Henderson, is nominated for best new series. Henderson earned a best penciller / inker nomination for her work on Unbeatable Squirrel Girl and Jughead, both YA comic series.

In addition, Noelle Stevenson’s Nimona earned a nomination for best graphic album reprint, while G. Willow Wilson picked up a best writer nomination for the ongoing Ms. Marvel series.

Winners will be announced on July 22.
