divergent veronica rothThe State Library of Louisiana announced the winners of the 2014 Louisiana Young Readers’ Choice Awards, an annual program started in 1999 which celebrates the best of children’s and young adult literature, selected by young people from schools throughout the state.

This year’s winning young adult novel, as chosen by 9-12th grade students of Louisiana, was Divergent by Veronica Roth, the dystopian bestseller set in a future Chicago divided by factions.

The honor award went to Kendare Blake’s paranormal fantasy Anna Dressed in Blood, which follows teenage ghost hunter Cas Lowood, tasked with killing Anna, a vicious Victorian ghost said to kill everyone to enter her home, who spares Cas’ life.
